Our Mission
The Black Social Scientist Association is an initiative, by the students for the students, that promotes community and agency for Black-identifying students who have majors or minors within the social sciences. We want to create spaces where students can learn outside of the classroom, develop confidence and skills necessary for the future, and feel supported academically, mentally, and emotionally by peers with similar experiences. We strive to create a sense of belonging for Black-identifying students in fields where there isn’t much representation in hopes of increasing that representation for future generations.

Alexis Hall
Hi! My name is Alexis Hall (She/Her/Hers) and I'm a fourth-year Psychology major with minors in African American studies, Sociology, and Public Service and Community Engagement. I'm from Englewood, New Jersey and have lived there my entire life, but now I live in San Francisco. Here on campus, I'm president of the LMN residential housing council, Diversity,Equity, and Inclusion chair for the Psychology Student Association, part of the 4th cohort of Community Engagement Activists, and part of the Student Housing Department. I also enjoy volunteering for NAMI and PODER. In my free time, I love to listen to music, eat new food, being in the sun with friends, and watching my new favorite shows. I'm looking forward to an amazing year and hope to connect with all of the black students within the social sciences in community!
